2020 Cadillac CT6-V – So, it’s not often that a manufacturer had already announced the discontinuation of a model before it was even built, but that’s the case with this CT6V. The factory where it is made will be closed in January, which means that there will likely be under 500 of these to ever exist.
When Cadillac first introduced the CT6 nameplate nearly three years ago, this was a car that faced somewhat of an identity crisis because Cadillac was quick to point out that this was not the flagship full-size luxury sedan.
That we thought it would be, they said a larger ct8 was coming even though this was the first full-sized rear-drive vehicle that we see for the brand in over 20 years. Now over the years, the ct8 name was canceled due to everybody wanting crossovers, and even the 2020 Cadillac CT6-V was put on the chopping blocks when the plant that builds this thing was set to close in January of 2020.
Cadillac mostly hides the performance underneath of this luxurious body. There are not actually that many differences from the Platinum model. We looked at last year, but the grille is finished in these signatures black mesh-like other V models. As far as the headlights, they are, of course, entirely led with Cadillacs signature daytime running light and turn signal.
That extends down the front Looking at the rest of the styling it continues to look very long low and elegant like every 2020 Cadillac CT6-V but there are a few Unique elements to set the V apart one of those is this carbon fiber lip spoiler and then the other four are the quad exhaust outlets pumping out that spectacular sound.
So overall, we have to say that I dig the exterior of this car since it’s simultaneously elegant and aggressive. Now one aspect of the design we haven’t mentioned yet is the wheels. They are very nice-looking 20-inch multi-spoke alloys, but there are two other more plain options for about $2,000 extra. As far as the tires, they are high-performance summer tires, and we also have specially developed four-piston Brembo brakes.
Then moving back to the mirrors, we have all the goodies as standard equipment like heating auto-dimming and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
So, taking a look inside the 2020 Cadillac CT6-V as you can see, it does mostly have these same interiors from these standard CT6. However, there are some exclusive touches for this V model. Now, one thing to know about this vehicle right off the bat here is that it pretty much comes fully loaded. There’s not a great deal of choices you have. However, one of the options you do get to pick is your interior color.
There are two options. It’s going to be jet black or this color, which is called dark Auburn. It is real leather seating, and then all the CT6V models will come with carbon fiber interior trim. It is now turning over here to your door trim. It is very nicely appointed. You do have leather all through the armrest area as well as above it and across the top of the door trim.
Refocusing about the interior, what you’re looking at is Cadillacs premium twelve-point three-inch fully reconfigurable gauges. You can make adjustments right here with the steering wheel buttons. So you can adjust both the left and right side. We can also hop into our settings here, and you can even change the entire layout.
2020 Cadillac CT6-V is heated, and you do have the carbon fiber trim with the newest Cadillac design here Rain, sensing wipers are going to be standard on this model. As well as a full power adjusting steering wheel, my favorite thing about it. Though is that we have Full magnesium paddle shifters, so listen to that real metal.
That is lovely to touch. Now obviously, interior storage is not a huge focus of this car, but the CT6 does have plenty of it. So, you open up this center console there to the side, and then it once inside you can see there is a nice Segway sized. And nicely felt line area here You do have a USB type A and a USB type-c and then right through here, this is your wireless phone charging pad.
So, what we have is the black-winged series brand new Cadillac exclusive engine 4.2-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 550 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. So absolutely incredible numbers Like we said, this is not used in any other General Motors product, and it’s hand-built At the Corvette assembly plant there in Kentucky.
As far as your transmission that is a 10-speed automatic and we do have standard all-wheel drive. Now that depends on the drive mode; you select the torque split changes dramatically. So by default, in a touring way is going to be 60%, to the rear 40% of the power to the front. When you go into a sport, that’s going to be 80% to the rear, and then when you go into the track mode, 95% of the power will be sent to the back.
Finally, as far as your fuel economy, not a strong suit of this vehicle. You don’t expect it to be, of course, so you’re looking at 14 City, 25 highway, 17 combined? Which considering this category of vehicle is a sedan that does get hit by a gas guzzler tax?
How Does The 2020 Cadillac CT6-V Price?
It is You Now, of course, this is a very exclusive vehicle So you would expect nothing less than a very private price tag and indeed. So what you’ll be looking at is a starting price of a ninety-one thousand seven hundred and ninety-five dollars.
Now, as we said, 2020 Cadillac CT6-V pretty much comes fully loaded, but there is one package you can add, and we have that one. That’s the driver’s assist package, and then in the options category, they have gas guzzler tax. We’ve never seen any optional fees.
So, I don’t know why it’s in that category, but that’s going to be $1300, and then we have some all-weather floor mats for one $9,995 destination, and then that’s going to bring the total to ninety-seven thousand three hundred and eighty dollars. That is a costly price tag.
