2020 Cadillac XT6 – So, about a month ago, we brought you guys a first look at a pre-production 2020 Cadillac XT6, but now the real deal is already. The Cadillac xt6 is a three-row luxury midsize SUV that shares its basic structure with the GMC Acadia and Chevy Blazer, to be honest, we have a few gripes but let’s start on a positive note.

Bigger Than XT5

Getting started here with the exterior design, obviously, it does feature the latest and greatest rendition of Cadillacs design language. The face looks a lot more like the upcoming CT5 sedan than the XT four since it has separated headlights and a slender grille. This is the premium luxury version. So, we have the silver finish across the grille and the lower elements.

Whereas on the sport all that would be blacked out. Now coming back to those headlights, they are entirely led as standard equipment with low and high beams in the upper unit. Then the signature vertical light serving is both the daytime running light and the turn signal. The top part can be subbed out for a fancier multi bulb arrangement.

If you prefer Heading to the side, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 measures in at 198.8 inches, which for reference is about five inches shy of the Escalade and right in between the GMC Acadia and Chevy Traverse, which are two of its platform mates. As far as the styling itself, this premium luxury has chrome accents, which would be black on the sport, but then coming around to the rear; both trims are pretty much the same.

Now one aspect of the design we haven’t mentioned is the wheels. Cadillac has nicely included 20-inch alloys as standard equipment on both trims. There are tons of free plans available also 20 inches, but only the sport can get twenty ones.

Moving back to the mirrors, they have all the goodies as standard equipment like heating power-folding auto-dimming on the driver’s side, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. While we’re on the topic of safety, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 does have several more active safety features onboard.

Every model comes standard with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection Lane Keeping Assist, and auto high beam headlights. Additionally, the optional driver-assist package adds in rear auto braking and adaptive cruise control.

Finally, wrapping up the outside the fuel tank is either 19 gallons with front-wheel drive or 22 with all-wheel drive now since both versions do get the same combined fuel economy. The ranges vary from 380 miles to 440 miles. Unlike a lot of the competition, premium fuel is not required. Well, that pretty much covers the brand-new exterior.

Luxuriousness and Roomier

2020 Cadillac XT6 Colors

As you can tell, 2020 Cadillac XT6 looks somewhat familiar, since it does share a lot of characteristics with the XT5. There are loads of differences as well about your color and material selections of the cabin, like all luxury cars.

Starting with all models come standard with leather. That’s what we have, but if you go for the Platinum package, you’re going to have semi-aniline leather. As far as your colors on your premium luxury that’s going to come with jet black Cirrus or Dark Auburn and each of those will come with their unique wood trim. But if you go for the sport, you have jet black and Cirrus color options.

Now start the XT6, you do have a standard push-button start. When you press it, you will see the standard 8-inch display fire up across all models. Checking out the gauges over here, there are two different setups. You can get we have the basics set up with a 4.2-inch multifunction display and then a separate info screen across the top there.

Or you can get an 8 inch fully reconfigurable gauge cluster that comes in the enhanced technology package, but as far as this one here, it does contain the same types of information. You use the little knob on the steering wheel there to scroll through all your different kinds of information, including for your safety systems.

We do also notice you have a USB type-c and a regular USB port, as well. We also want to point out across the entire lineup as standard equipment; you have wireless phone charging. So, what you do is slide it into this little cubby there. This is the newest 15-watt setup. So, it is quick or charging than in previous Cadillacs, and then you can shut this a little bit there. You still have access to your phone.

It’s quieted an impressive amount of storage inside 2020 Cadillac XT6 cabin. Now, this is General Motors electronic shifter generation 2 and just has simplified Operation. So, what you do is push it on this little tab right there pullback for the drive you pull back once more to activate the manual mode. Where you can shift via the standard paddle shifters, they come on every single model.

So that’s a neat touch, but the significant change here is the reverse, you’re just going to push in and go all the way up to the front. Previously on the XT5 and some other General Motors vehicles, you got to go up and to the left. So, this is definitely a lot easier to get used to when we go into reverse here; we do have a standard backup camera, of course, with current trajectory as well as parking sensors.

Standard on the XT6 is an eight-speaker Bose premium sound system. If you go for navigation, Cadillac throws in a premium 14 speaker Bose performance sound system. As you can see, 2020, Cadillac XT6 has three different modes a sport, touring, and a snow-ice bowl.

XT6 Performance

There is only one option for every 2020 Cadillac XT6. it’s a similar setup to its other General Motors vehicles that ride on the same platform. It’s a 3.6-liter V6 producing 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. That is exactly the same as the XT5 and very similar to most of the competition.

As far as your transmission, you’re looking at a 9-speed automatic that’s up to one gear from the 2019 XT5. And then on your premium luxury that’s going to be paired to either front-wheel drive, which is what we have here or an optional all-wheel-drive system. If you go through the sports, that’s going to come standard with all-wheel-drive, but it’s a different all-wheel-drive system.

It is the active twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system. Finally, for your fuel economy, you will pay a bit of a penalty versus the XT5 for that extra size. With front-wheel drive, you’re rated at 18 City, 25 highway, 20 combined, and with all-wheel-drive. You keep the same 20 combined, but the city and highway dropped by one each to 17 and 24 for reference, that’s going to be three mpg behind the MDX and two behind the XT5.
