2020 Kia Sportage – Now there are a lot of entries in the compact crossover class, which means that many of the offerings outside of the leading Japanese brands are often overlooked. The Sportage is one of those crossovers; however, Kia is hoping to change that this year. With revisions to the already stylish design and even more standard features for 2020.

Starting with the styling, the most important and most obvious change is the addition of the S trim. This is what we have with us today, more or less. It brings the premium sports styling from the SX down to a more affordable price point.
The s and the SX share the same dark chrome grille with a unique mesh relative to the 2020 Kia Sportage LX and 2020 Kia Sportage IX, which have a more traditional chrome grille. The lower fascia does also changes between the sport and luxury trims. However, the headlights mostly stay the same throughout the trims with all models.
Except the 2020 Kia Sportage SX getting these unique circular LED daytimes running lights and halogen projector headlights. That trim is stead gets entirely LED lights that resemble the ones in the stinger.
Then down below all that the base model has fog lights as far as the rest of the styling, it continues with the same provocative look with a sharply raked side profile leading into a handsome and athletic-looking rear. The taillights have been redesigned this year and like most recent Kia.
They are LED and connect in the middle, and then to have a unified look with the front, the reverse and turn signal lights are in a separate housing down at the bottom. The two-sport trims do have a silver diffuser, but only the SX turbo will have exposed exhausted. So all in all, while the styling is probably not for everyone. We appreciate that Kia’s doing something different and fresh in a segment.
That’s typically quite bland now. Another big thing here updated this year is the wheel design. Every term will come with alloy wheels starting at 17-inches on the LX and then 18-inch alloys on the 2020 Kia Sportage S and EX but with different finishes.
Finally, the SX comes with a 19-inch split five-spoke and surprisingly gives you heated power-folding mirrors with blind-spot monitoring as standard on all but the base model. Then as far as all your other safety systems, Kia has expanded their availability to now include the base model for 2020.
And adaptive cruise control with stop and go will be on the SX or the 2020 Kia Sportage EX with Technology Package. As far as the fuel tank is concerned, it is sixteen point four gallons, which is good for 426 miles of range with the base engine and front-wheel drive like this model.

However, there are still plenty of abounding when you start looking around. Now as far as your various interior color and material combinations. There are plenty, so starting with your base LX that’s going to come with fabric seating and black or gray, and when you go up to either this s or the ex-trim, you’re going to have the leatherette seating in black or gray.
Across our upper dash here, we do have full soft-touch plastic with the stitching detail and through the premium package is push-button start and then a standard on the EX and up Now one of the significant changes for 2020 is this premium 8-inch touch display. Then there is a 7-inch multi-function display on your upper-end models. But as far as the information contained within them, it’s just a typical affair of things.
You can make adjustments to things like your driver’s assistance right from there. Now coming back to the steering, it is an electric power assistant, and then you’re looking at one of the other significant 2020 changes. And that’s that We have a redesign steering wheel. It’s nice.
Being a family compact crossover storage is very important, and the spores do an excellent job in this area. It’s opening up our center console there as you can see, it’s enormous, probably about eight inches deep, and it’s vast.
You do have a beautiful felt lining down at the bottom as well. But from that, you got an excellent little slot. You can maybe stick your phone or something like that your two cupholders if you can see that we have the Qi wireless phone charger. That is a new option in 2020 for this s that’s part of the Premium Package, but it will be standard if you go for the SX turbo.
But if you don’t have a phone that uses wireless phone charging, you do still have two 12-volt outlets and a USB port. Now coming on back to the shifter here, it is just a regular shifter, so you pull back for Drive, and you can’t bump over here to the left to shift manually right there.
If you go for the S or the SX trim so your sports trends, they will come with these silver painted paddle shifters, when we go into reverse, every model is going to come standard with a backup camera. As you can see, we do have the current trajectory. There is no 360-degree camera system, but you will find parking sensors on the front and rear for the SX turbo.
Then back behind the shifter, this Premium Package also gives us the electronic parking brake and brake hole functionality, which is standard on the higher-end trims. Now next to it here, we have the button labeled drive modes. There are a few different ones. It looks like a normal, sport and eco.
2020 Kia Sportage Specs
Most of the trim so the vast majority of you guys are going to choose the base set up, which is what this one is, and that’s your standard 2.4 liters naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 181 horsepower at 175-pound feet of torque. However, there is the SX turbo model, and the turbo means the turbocharged. It’s got a 2.0-liter turbo i4, and that’s going to make 240 horsepower of 260-pound feet of torque.
You do have the option between front or all-wheel drive, and you will always have a six-speed Automatic transmission. Then lastly, as far as your fuel economy, it is class-competitive. So, your front-wheel-drive 2.4-liter model is going to be rated at 23 City, 30 highway, 26 combined? And then as far as that after that it goes downhill from there.
So, we have all-wheel drive added to this is going to bring it to 23 combined, but if you go for the front-wheel-drive turbo model, that’s also going to be 23 combined. And then if you go for all-wheel drive on that, you’re going to lose two and go down to 21 combined.
Our guess of the speed reason to be a well It’s it’s basically what we would expect in this class. It’s not gonna beat your socks off or anything like that, so if you want more of an enthusiast kind of like a lot of torque and more power, than you can grab the turbo model. But as far as for everyday needs this is definitely more than suitable.
This is Six speeds too many people are a sweet spot in a sense that. That it doesn’t shift too many times, but it also has enough gears to keep you up to this right speed. So, since we’re rolling down a little bit of a country road, we want to talk about the steering which we wish to commend this Sportage on this chairing they have done an outstanding job.
How Does The 2020 Kia Sportage Price?
Just like pretty much every other Kia, it does have very competitive pricing compared to the rest of the class. For the very base 2020 Kia Sportage LX model, that’s going to start at twenty-three thousand nine hundred and ninety dollars.
If you want to move run one rung up, which is this s model that’s going to be twenty-five thousand nine ninety. The 2020 Kia Sportage EX is twenty-seven thousand one ninety. Finally, the top 2020 Kia Sportage SX trim starts at thirty-three thousand four hundred ninety dollars. Now that is worth noting that an all-wheel drive is a fifteen-hundred-dollar option on all trims except for the 2020 Kia Sportage S, which is seventy-eight, which is a $1700 option.
Even though we do have the 2020 Kia Sportage S model, which is second from the base, we do have quite a few options on this particular model to make it beautiful here on the inside, so we have the s premium package, which adds quite a few features for $3,200.
As well as cargo mats for ninety-five, carpeted floor mats for one thirty-five, and a cargo net four-fifty. And then finally when you include the destination charge of one thousand and forty-five dollars.
This particular model, as equipped, comes in a thirty thousand five hundred and fifteen dollars. Which we have to admit is definitely an excellent value for the segment for thirty thousand dollars. You’re you have everything you could ever want in this cabin. It feels very upscale, and premium and thirty thousand is a lot less expensive than most of the rivals, which like the RAV4, can get up to almost forty thousand bucks.
