Which had the LED running lights divorced from the actual headlight module has been replaced with just a single looking headlight. It’s a much slimmer much sleeker much modern look to the vehicle this particular one that they’re showing off is a silver is 350 in the F Sport package.
As you can see the is definitely looks new on the outside in the front fascia but this is actually riding on a modified version of the existing platform. you could say that 2021 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport actually kind of took an easier route with the full redesign unlike the new TLX. This is riding on a modified platform it’s not the all-new. You know TNG a luxury platform that we find on the LS, that 2021 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport said that that platform wasn’t able to compress into a midsize to compact sports fan. So instead we’re just kind of getting a an updated version of this platform.
Looking around the side profile you might notice that the is looks still pretty tidy. It’s also 1.2 inches lower its wheelbase remains the same and around 110 inches long. This is going to compete head-on with vehicles like the BMW 3-series, Mercedes-benz C-class, and Genesis G70. At least the is still a rear-drive based car and you can clearly see that in the proportions now with this new generation model. Overall a nice look on the outside. You know 2021 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport kind of played it safe here, according to compared to things like the Genesis G7 or the new Acura TLX this is distinctively Lexus but you have to wonder did Lexus do enough to make this car stand out especially with all the new competition.
Moving on to the interior, unfortunately the inside didn’t quite get the extensive changes. That you see on the outside actually when we first saw the interior photos of this car, we were pretty disappointed. That’s because aside from the new airbag cover on the steering, circular vent on the side of the dash and the new infotainment system it is basically a direct carryover of the previous generation.
Although we applaud that Lexus for adding some modern tech features. The first thing you’re going to notice is that new floating tablets screen. It’s a ten-point three-inch display that is optional an eight-inch touchscreen. That’s right. We said it’s a touchscreen because 2021 Lexus IS 350 F-Sport has finally added a touchscreen to a lot of their newest models including the Lexus RX. They position the screen to be about three inches closer to the driver. So you can actually touch it with your hand or you can use the trackpad. That’s in the center stack over there which replaces that Mouse like controller which nobody really liked.
The rest of the cabin as you can see, you have Android auto and apple CarPlay now in Amazon Alexa. Which is great but the gauges are practically the same the seats are the same. Of course, you can still get that circuit red leather the shifter is still that same gated shifter whereas everyone else has gone to an electronic shifter. Some of your traditionalists may prefer that. Even have the same kind of controls for the climate controls with those touch sensitive sliders.
